As part of the implementation of this plan, LASAN has been:
- Meeting regularly to discuss issues encountered during the 2022/23 wet weather season, implementing
lessons learned - Reviewing wastewater collection system flow monitoring locations and performing modeling studies to update action trigger levels to ensure resources are allocated when needed.
- Training designated staff on Storm Commander duties to ensure effective communication during wet weather events. This training covers not only the historic wet weather challenges in Los Angeles but also recent observations and any necessary considerations related to active collection system construction projects.
- Training staff to review and report on the 180+ collection system flow monitoring sites during wet weather events.
- Enhancing existing reporting protocols through the use of standardized forms and distribution lists.
- Developing maps and schematics of the wastewater collection system in order to make informed decisions during wet weather events.
- Preparing LASAN’s wastewater and stormwater infrastructure through inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining components in order to optimize overall system performance.
