At our February 3, 2026 LAWA provided a presentation on the LAX Sign District to share plans about how to use the 1961 control tower as signage to welcome travelers to Los Angeles.
LAWA has made presentations to the NCWP Board and committees three times in 2025. NCWPapproved a motion to support the sign effort.
They shared plans for the 1961 ATCT to be used as signage platform for welcome messages, celebratory content, and artistic digital displays. The building is not currently occupiable because of fire, life safety reasons, but is eligible as a City of Los Angeles histroic cultural landmark.
LAWA is working through an approval process expected to culminate this summer.
