At our February 3, 2026 meeting, the Community Plan Update Committee presented the results of their survey and voted to send it to CD 11 and City Planning.
About the respondents:
- 626 Responses, 89% own and occupy a residence here
- 79% of respondents were in Westchester
- 83% have been here more than 11 years
About community assets:
- 83% are satisfied or highly satisfied with retail establishments and services
- 60% are satisfied or highly satisfied with our infrastructure-roads, sidewalks, power
- 68% are satisfied or highly satisfied with public services- parks, recreation, police, fire
- What people valued the most: Community character, beach access, local businesses, proximity to LAX, safety
- Most frequently used amenities: restaurants, shopping centers, beach
- 87% are satisfied with housing availability
- 57% strongly oppose more housing development
- 44% support constructing multi family housing in designated areas
- 43% wanted no housing constructed, satisfied with current conditions
- Priorities for new development should be: none, single family homes or affordable housing
- Critical guideline for new housing: preserving neighborhood character, sufficient parking
- 75% of people drive alone in the community
- Biggest transportation challenges: airport traffic, congestion, poor walkability
- Most desired transportation improvement: sidewalk and street repair and maintenance
