Lulu’s Place, a $150 million project next to St. Bernard High School, featuring facilities for tennis, soccer, volleyball and other sports, as well as public recreation space, broke ground May 8, 2024 in Playa del Rey.
The center will be built on 31-acres that are part of the airport’s Northside area, and will integrate athletics with academics in honor of Carol “Lulu” Kimmelman, a former LAUSD teacher and tennis standout.
