Mental Health Awareness Seminar for Parents

December 9, 2020 @ 12:00 am

The Education Committee for the Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa del Rey is committed to strengthening our neighborhood schools and this year in the midst of the pandemic, we have realized this comes in the form of supporting caregivers who are struggling tremendously with the challenges of distance learning. We recently learned about the dramatic increase in suicide/suicide attempts from youth in our community. The news was devastating and as a committee we feel the need to address it and give parents the tools to take on these stresses at home as well.

We are offering a virtual evening seminar to provide support and resources while relieving stress on December 9th from 6:30-8:00pm. We will provide caregivers a differentiated approach- something for all levels, Elementary through High School, focusing on a variety of issues- anxiety, depression, suicide, LGBTQ, etc.- with professionals leading small group sessions to address individualized needs. It is our hope this virtual and differentiated forum will reach as many caregivers as possible and leave a positive impact with lasting benefits. The evening will be valuable, inclusive, and offer meaningful learning opportunities for all caregivers.

If you are interested in attending, please complete the Google Form below with your individual information and interest areas. You will also find the Zoom information below as well.

This virtual seminar is open to all caregivers in the community so please feel free to share the information with ANY and EVERYONE. We owe it our students!

Thank you!
