For months, the encampment along the 405 Freeway and Centinela Creek between La Cienega and La Tijera grew worse. The conditions were unsanitary and deplorable — in fact, conditions were inhumane. At the end of May 2026, in collaboration with agencies from LA County, the State, City of Inglewood, law enforcement partners, and social service providers, we were able to successfully house dozens of people living in squalor. Sanitation crews moved in after and cleared the area of tons of trash, and materials that posed an immediate and imminent risk of further polluting the Centinela Creek which merges with the Ballona Creek and flows to the ocean. It was a win for people who need help and for our environment.
