Congressman Lieu will be holding his annual virtual veteran appreciation event “Conversations with Veterans” this Saturday, November 9 in the morning from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Zoom. A few of the veterans telling a story at the event include: Harry Moyer, former Westchester longtime resident, a 104 year old WWII fighter pilot who later became one of the Flyer Tigers, a former Air Force Captain who was at the Pentagon on 9-11; a female Air Force veteran who was in the Medical Service Corp in Iraq where wounded soldiers were transferred to hospitals, a Vietnam Marine Medi-vac pilot who evacuated wounded soldiers, and a Korean War Captain who interviewed prisoner of war at the front lines.
There will also be a military love story, insight into how our troops scramble to support NATO and a behind the scenes look at the rigorous training to be an instructor in the Marines Special Operations Group.
Plus, patriotic music –the National Anthem by Maxine Reyes, US Army Captain retired and God Bless America by Michael Jackson aka Michael Wajacs, US Army G-6 retired.
