This past Tuesday, April 2, 2024 Los Angeles Mayor and Metro Board Chair Karen Bass came together with Los Angeles County Supervisor and Metro Board Member Lindsey Horvath and Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins to celebrate the conclusion of tunneling for the Metro D Line (formerly Purple Line) Subway Extension Project that is currently under construction. You can read more in the Source article here.

Tunneling could be a part of the future Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project as it is included in four of the six alternatives currently being studied. Congratulations to the entire Metro D Line planning, engineering and construction team for reaching this incredible milestone.

The Metro D Line is a critical and highly anticipated addition to Metro’s network. Opening in three sections, when fully completed, it will add seven new stations and a reliable, high-speed connection allowing travel between Downtown and the Westside of Los Angeles in about 25 minutes. The D Line will be part of the greater Metro program that is expanding mobility options around the County for all users. As one of LA’s busiest areas, the Westside is the region’s second-largest job center.

With the Metro D Line Subway Extension Project, Metro is closer than ever to connecting two of Southern California’s busiest urban areas and improving travel for everyone who lives, works, and plays in LA County.
