LAUSD, NCWP, & SpeakUP School Facilities Forum for the Westside Community

Discussion/Action (Motion): 
  1. In lieu of the November NCWP Education Committee meeting, the NCWP is co-hosting a public school Facilities Forum for the Westside Community. Please see the attached event flier and plan to attend, bring a friend, ask questions, and learn how to improve the current process.

    This Facilities Forum is in response to longstanding parent, teacher, and community interest in both maintaining and improving the interior and exterior conditions of our public school facilities on the Westside. LAUSD will share it's "big picture" strategy around facilities, and educate community about how to navigate facilities improvements and repairs. Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions of the panelists. The issue of co-locations will be addressed in a separate community forum in early 2018. 
    Confirmed participants in the Facilities Forum include: Nick Melvoin, LAUSD Board Vice President and District 4 Representative; Allison Holdorff Polhill,LAUSD District 4 Senior Advisor and Director of Community Engagement; Mark Hovatter, LAUSD Chief Facilities Executive; Cheryl P. Hildreth, Superintendent, LAUSD Local District West; and Dr. Janet Mack, Principal, Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets High School. 
    The free event is open to the public. It is an educational session with a moderated Q&A.
