SUMMARY:Transportation Demand Management Open House & Hearing
DESCRIPTION:LA City Planning and LA Department of Transportation are pleased to announce the release of revised drafts for the proposed Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Program update for public review and comment. A virtual Open House & Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday\, August 2\, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. \nThe proposed TDM Program update aims to reduce the need for drive-alone vehicle trips by increasing transportation options and accessibility throughout the City\, providing benefits to the environment and public health. It would require new development projects over a certain size to implement strategies such as supporting transit\, telecommuting\, walking\, carshare\, and other sustainable travel options that reduce vehicle trips. \nThe revised drafts of the TDM Ordinance and TDM Program Guidelines incorporate feedback gathered over the last several years\, including through public workshops and office hours held in 2021. Among changes to the revised ordinance are adjusted project size thresholds and modified monitoring and enforcement procedures. \nPlease visit City Planning’s mobility website planning4la.org/mobility to view the revised draft TDM Ordinance\, draft TDM Program Guidelines\, a new fact sheet\, informational videos\, and to sign up for updates. \nA public hearing is a means to collect comments from stakeholders before the proposed TDM Program update is presented to the City Planning Commission for recommendation\, and ultimately the City Council for adoption. A presentation will be followed by an opportunity to provide oral comments. The virtual Open House and Public Hearing is open to everyone who would like to participate. No decisions will be made at the Public Hearing. \nOpen House & Public Hearing (Virtual)\nTuesday\, August 2\, 2022\n4:00 – 4:45 p.m. Presentation\n4:45 – 6:30 p.m. Public Hearing \nZoom Meeting\nhttps://planning-lacity-org.zoom.us/j/81067836037 \nWebinar ID: 810 6783 6037\nPassword: 694094\n\nDial by your location:\nUS: +1 669 900 9128 or +1 213 338 8477

SUMMARY:HireLAX Apprenticeship Readiness Program
DESCRIPTION:The HireLAX Apprenticeship Readiness Program is accepting applications for its latest cohort\, which is scheduled to begin in July. The required orientation to be considered for the program is on Saturday\, June 11\, 2022\, 7:00 am – 1:00 pm. This eight-week course introduces its local students to construction concepts and helps them develop skills that make them ready for union apprenticeships. \nWhy apply for HireLAX? \n\nHireLAX has the 2nd highest placement rate in the county (steadily moving closer to first) out of approximately 18 pre-apprenticeship programs.\nHireLAX has placed 190 people into union construction jobs\, with graduates collectively earning more than $10 million to support their families and our local communities. An additional 6 graduates went to work in non-union construction (including 2 who went straight into management overseeing union craft workers)\, and 4 were assisted into non-construction jobs.\nHireLAX is a nationally recognized program by multiple trade organizations\, including Construction Users RoundTable (CURT) because of the level of support provided to students. As a result of the ongoing success of the graduates\, the HireLAX team has been invited to speak in front of numerous audiences around the country (and virtually) to discuss their program model.\n\nhttps://hirelax-2022-06-11.eventbrite.com/
