SUMMARY:LAX Parcels to House Venice Homeless?
DESCRIPTION:Our adjacent Venice Neighborhood Council is holding a meeting tonight\, September 19\, 6:30pm at 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd in which they will discuss the formation of a citizen task force on LAX parcels as a solution to removing the current encampments here in Venice. From Yovenice: \nThe prime backer of this initiative is Community Officer Clark Brown who has made it known publicly for months that the best remedy to solving the Venice homeless question is creating space at LAX which would remove such encampments and RV parking from the residential streets of this neighborhood plagued by this human scourge\, and the worst of any neighborhood in LA with the exception of Skid Row. \nAll residents are encouraged to attend Tuesday’s monthly meeting. Want to contact a VNC board member? E-mail them at board@venicenc.org. \nPlease see the meeting agenda\, item 13: MOTION: CITIZEN TASK FORCE ON LAX PARCELS – STAKEHOLDER PETITION. \nIf you are concerned about Venice homeless moving to LAX parcels\, please attend the meeting and share your opinion. \nAccording to the Argonautnews\, the three parcels in question include: the first is at the corner of La Tijera and Westchester Parkway (Parcel 1). The second is at the corner of La Tijera and Century (Parcel 2)\, and the third is at the corner of 111th Street and Aviation (Parcel 3). \n

SUMMARY:Reform LA: Commission Selection
DESCRIPTION:The Ad Hoc Committee on Governance Reform has begun its listening sessions on potential reforms to our city’s redistricting process. This is a historic effort which is being led by the Council President and the more public participation the better\, as reforms recommended by the committee will need to go to the full City Council and the voters for adoption\, as many reforms would require changes to the City Charter. \nListening sessions will take place over the next few weeks and into the summer. The committee will make its recommendations to the full City Council in late summer and\, if approved\, will head to voters for their consideration in either March or November of 2024. \nRegister your thoughts on redistricting reform: https://cityclerk.lacity.org/publiccomment/ Council File #22-1196-S1

SUMMARY:Public Hearing: Proposed Site Plan Review Amendment for Affordable Housing
DESCRIPTION:Los Angeles City Planning will conduct a Virtual Public Hearing for a proposed amendment to the Site Plan Review Ordinance on March 14\, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend and share feedback. \nLos Angeles City Planning has prepared this zoning code amendment in response to a City Council Motion (Council File No. 22-0268)\, and in furtherance of the goals of Mayor Bass’ Executive Directive (ED) 1\, which aims to streamline reviews for affordable housing. Site Plan Review is a planning entitlement that requires discretionary approval for certain types of developments pursuant to LAMC Section 16.05. The proposed amendment would exempt deed restricted affordable housing units from Site Plan Review threshold calculations. This exemption would help to expedite the permitting of new affordable housing projects to address the ongoing housing crisis. \nThe draft Ordinance\, fact sheet\, hearing notice\, and more information can be found on the project webpage by searching for Site Plan Review. \nThe Public Hearing is an opportunity to provide feedback that will inform a staff report and recommendation to the City Planning Commission. Following consideration by the City Planning Commission\, the ordinance would move to the Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) Committee of the City Council before eventually heading to the full City Council for consideration and adoption. \nBeginning at 6:00 p.m.\, City Planning will present a brief overview of the proposed ordinance and the process to provide public comment. The Public Hearing will begin at 6:20 p.m. The official Notice of Public Hearing is available here. In addition to comments provided at the Staff Public Hearing\, City Planning is also accepting written comments through April 3rd\, which should be sent via email to planning.housingpolicy@lacity.org. Please see the Notice of Public Hearing for more information. \nVirtual Staff-Level Public Hearing\nTuesday\, March 14\, 2023\, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.\nVirtual Overview Presentation: 6 p.m. – 6:20 p.m.\nVirtual Public Comment: 6:20 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
